Joseph M.

I was the man who had everything. Nothing to complain about, everything to be thankful for. Yet one morning I woke up and found myself addicted to opioids.

The first thing my addiction stole from me was my gratitude. After that came the losses, failures, disappointments. I turned into a hopeless addict, stuck in a misery loop.

The one thing that kept me alive was my relationship with my girlfriend. As powerful as those temptations were, they weren't more powerful than the love and support this amazing woman kept showing me. And so I let her be my anchor. I joined the 12-step program because I knew we deserved a great life together.

I've been in recovery for 2 years now and I'm proud of the person I am becoming. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone. So I'm hopeful to help others as my wife helped me.
