John Lewis

Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis joined the burgeoning civil rights movement and became one of the "Big Six" leaders of the civil rights movement in the 1960s. Lewis was a Freedom Rider, spoke at 1963's March on Washington and led the demonstration that became known as "Bloody Sunday." He was elected to Congress in 1986 and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011.

Though renowned as a civil rights leader, his reputation as a personal development teacher of universal import is growing steadily. The Wellgorithms here were adapted from his seminal book, Across That Bridge: Life Lessons and a Vision for Change.
